NVIDIA has announced a new strategy for distributing its RTX 50 series GPUs among retailers. According to reports, the company may limit availability of flagship SKUs like the GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, making it difficult for consumers to purchase them at launch.
In an effort to prevent resellers from getting most of the stock, NVIDIA may decide which retailer will receive the larger share of GPUs. This could result in many popular stores not having stock available on day one or even weeks after that. The only way to access these GPUs might be through digital-queue systems, which are often influenced by automated bots.
The limited availability applies particularly to the RTX 5090. Industry insiders suggest that NVIDIA’s total stock of GPUs will be lower than previous releases, making it challenging for consumers to get their hands on flagship models at launch prices. This move may help prevent resellers from profiting from inflated prices but will still affect end-users.
Notably, some retailers like MindFactory and Alternate may receive a higher portion of stock in Germany, providing them with an advantage. However, the availability situation remains uncertain, and consumers should be prepared for limited options when the RTX 50 series GPUs launch.
