Nvidia Resumes AI Chip Sales to China After White House Approval

Nvidia, the US chipmaking giant, has announced that it plans to resume sales of an artificial intelligence chip to China after receiving assurances from the US government. The decision comes after a meeting between Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and President Donald Trump at the White House last week.

Huang had argued that restricting sales of American technology to China could put the US position as a global AI leader at risk, citing billions of dollars in lost revenue. AMD, another major chipmaker, also plans to restart its AI chip sales to China.

The move is seen as a victory for trade talks between the US and China, with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stating that Nvidia’s export controls have been a “negotiating chip” in the larger trade negotiations.

Nvidia’s chips are used in technologies ranging from AI chatbots to robotics and self-driving cars. The company had previously halted sales of its H20 chip due to US export controls, which forced it to miss out on billions of dollars in revenue.
