Nvidia Revives Verified Priority Access Program for RTX 5000 Series

Nvidia is reviving its “Verified Priority Access” program to address scalpers and scarce supplies of its GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards. The program, which was previously used to distribute the GPUs directly to some US consumers, will be open to registered users of Nvidia’s GeForce Experience and apps.

The system aims to give a limited number of verified gamers and creators in the US access to purchase one Founders Edition model of an RTX 5080 or 5090 GPU. Nvidia will verify users’ participation based on their account region, configuration, games played, and app usage.

Users who have created an Nvidia Account before January 30th, 2025, can submit their interest in the program through a form. The first invites are expected to roll out next week, with each user allowed to purchase one GPU at a time on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Nvidia’s move comes as other companies like Zotac and Newegg have also been selling RTX 5000 models directly to consumers through various channels. The Verified Priority Access program aims to provide genuine customers with access to the sought-after GPUs at a lower price point compared to their starting prices of $999 and $1,999 for the RTX 5080 and 5090 respectively.
