Nvidia’s latest mid-range graphics card, the RTX 5070, has sparked skepticism about its performance capabilities. However, the company recently gave us a chance to test it alongside its flagship model, the RTX 4090. The results are astonishing, as the RTX 5070 outperforms the RTX 4090 in Marvel Rivals, a game that utilizes Nvidia’s DLSS 4 technology.
The key to the RTX 5070’s performance lies in its new Tensor cores and multi frame generation feature. This allows the GPU to generate up to three extra frames between two rendered frames, resulting in smoother gameplay and faster frame rates. In Marvel Rivals, the RTX 5070 achieved an average of 240fps, while the RTX 4090 hovered around 180fps.
However, Nvidia notes that this performance gap may not be applicable to all games, as many titles do not support multi frame generation. In these cases, the RTX 4090’s raw horsepower and additional VRAM will give it an advantage. Nevertheless, with the right setup and supported games, the RTX 5070 can deliver a 4K gaming experience comparable to the RTX 4090.
The RTX 5070’s release is imminent, and we’re excited to dive deeper into its performance capabilities in upcoming tests. For now, Nvidia’s innovative use of multi frame generation has put the mid-range category on notice, suggesting that this $549 GPU may be a force to be reckoned with.
