Nvidia’s recent GPU driver releases have been plagued by issues since the introduction of drivers for the RTX 50-series cards in January. The initial release caused black screen issues, game crashes, and stability problems for both new and existing graphics cards.
To address these problems, Nvidia has been releasing a series of hotfixes to fix newly introduced issues. However, these updates have not only failed to resolve but also created more problems. For instance, the latest 576.02 driver release was expected to solve the issues but made things worse for some users.
Nvidia has since released a new hotfix driver (576.15) that addresses GPU temperature monitoring issues and fixes lower idle clock speeds for RTX 50-series owners. However, game crashes, performance issues, and stuttering when using G-Sync are still reported by many users.
This is not the first time Nvidia has faced driver issues, following a turbulent launch of the RTX 50-series cards. Problems have included melting power cables, manufacturing defects, and questionable marketing claims. The high demand for these GPUs has led to stock shortages at retail prices, leaving PC gamers frustrated.
Nvidia continues to track open issues with its drivers and is expected to release an official driver update soon to address the remaining problems.
