Nvidia is set to enter the consumer CPU market with an Arm-based platform in September 2025. The move aims at high-end PCs and marks a significant expansion for the company beyond its current GPU business.
Industry analysts believe Nvidia’s experience in AI servers, graphics cards, and previous CPU endeavors will give it an edge in competing with AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm. This entry comes as Microsoft is expected to end Qualcomm’s exclusive deal for Windows on Arm devices, potentially sparking increased competition in the market.
Nvidia plans to launch two possible types of CPUs: a mainstream chip with integrated graphics or a high-performance gaming-oriented CPU paired with a separate GPU. The latter would target the traditional x86 gaming scene.
Although Nvidia has previous attempts at expanding into the PC space, this new venture seems more promising. With its existing ties to game developers and experience in creating high-performance hardware, Nvidia is well-positioned to succeed in the competitive consumer CPU market.
