Nvidia Unveils AI-Powered Robot Training Tech and New Gaming Chips

Nvidia has unveiled several new products at the CES 2025 conference, including technology to speed up robot development, souped-up gaming chips, and its first desktop computer.

The company’s AI model tech, called Cosmos foundation models, can generate photo-realistic video at a lower cost than traditional methods. This allows robots and self-driving cars to learn about the physical world more efficiently.

Cosmos will be made available on an open license, similar to Meta Platforms’ Llama 3 language models. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang hopes that this technology will have a significant impact on robotics and industrial AI, just like Llama 3 has had in enterprise AI.

Nvidia also introduced new gaming chips, the RTX 50 series, which use the company’s ‘Blackwell’ AI technology to provide movie-like graphics. The chips are priced between $549 and $1,999 and will be available on January 30 for top models and February for lower-tier ones.

Additionally, Nvidia showcased its first desktop computer, Project DIGITS, designed for programmers. It features an Nvidia operating system based on Linux and is priced at $3,000.

The company also announced a partnership with Japan’s Toyota Motor to use its Orin chips and automotive operating system in several models, with the goal of generating $5 billion in automotive hardware and software revenue by 2026.
