Nvidia Unveils GeForce RTX 5050 GPUs with Ray Tracing and DLSS 4 Support

Nvidia has announced its new GeForce RTX 5050 GPUs, which support ray tracing and DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, for both desktops and laptops. The RTX 5050 starts at $249 for desktops, featuring 8GB of last-gen GDDR6 VRAM and 2,560 CUDA cores.

Laptops with the RTX 5050 card will start at $999, drawing up to 100W of power and using 8GB of more power-efficient GDDR7 VRAM. The desktop version is somewhat puzzling, as it uses outdated GDDR6 memory despite offering similar performance to its higher-end counterpart.

Despite this, Nvidia claims the RTX 5050 can deliver an immersive ray-traced experience with high settings in single-player games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Avowed, thanks to DLSS 4. In testing, the GPU achieved over 150 fps at 1080p resolution, but paired with a powerful CPU.

The RTX 5050 is a direct replacement for the two-generation-old RTX 3050, which remains popular among gamers. The new GPU promises significant performance improvements and will be made available by third-party partners like Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Zotac, and others in July.
