Nvidia’s share of the Steam Hardware Survey has increased by 80% over the past year, with its last-gen RTX chips remaining dominant in the market. Meanwhile, AMD’s RDNA 2 chips have taken the top spot as the best performer, outperforming other Team Red GPUs.
The October 2023 survey showed that Nvidia’s Ada Lovelace graphics processors accounted for 10% of all sampled machines, increasing to 17% in the latest figures. This significant increase is attributed to a decline in Nvidia’s GTX 10-series (Pascal) GPUs, which dropped from 16% to 11%. Turing and Ampere (RTX 20- and RTX 30-series) remain stable, with the latter still dominating the survey with over 30% of all sampled GPUs.
AMD has seen a notable rise in its RDNA 3 chips, with an almost 400% increase compared to last year. However, Nvidia’s total share remains higher, despite its last-gen RTX chips not being as popular as the newer models.
The survey results also reveal that Intel’s Arc chips and AMD’s RX 7000 series still have a low presence in the market, accounting for only 3% and 1%, respectively.
