NYC Building from Sex and the City May Get Iron Gate for Fans

A building in New York’s Greenwich Village that was featured prominently in the hit TV show Sex and the City may soon be protected from overzealous fans with an iron gate.

The owner of 66 Perry Street, a historic neighborhood home, is seeking permission to install a cast iron gate after saying she can’t take it anymore. The current chain link barrier has been in place for years but hasn’t been enough to deter fans who want to visit the show’s iconic stoop.

Fans often climb over the barrier, pose on the steps, and even try to open the door. In some cases, they’ve left graffiti or carved initials into the property. The owner says she needs a more substantial solution to protect her tenants’ quality of life.

Sex and the City aired from 1998 to 2004 and has remained popular in recent years as streaming platforms like Netflix have made it accessible to new generations of fans.
