A newborn baby boy at a New York City hospital nearly lost his life after undergoing circumcision, according to his parents. Cole Groth was born with a heart disease and underwent a routine circumcision procedure at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in Manhattan. The family claims that the hospital failed to inform them of potential risks associated with the procedure for children with pre-existing heart conditions.
Cole required a stent placement days after birth due to his heart condition, but was later cleared for discharge. However, during circumcision, he experienced severe bleeding and lost vital organs, suffering brain damage, kidney damage, and liver damage. He is currently in critical condition, undergoing daily transfusions and has undergone four surgeries in the last week.
The hospital has declined to comment on the incident due to patient privacy policies. The Groth family is fighting for their son’s life and hopes to bring him home soon to meet his older brother, 2-year-old Bryce.
