Conan O’Brien was honored with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, in a ceremony marked by big-name comedians roasting him and President Trump. The event, which saw comedian David Letterman praise the “most entertaining gathering of the resistance,” comes as the Kennedy Center is under President Trump’s leadership, who has purged its board and installed himself as chairman. O’Brien himself kept his distance from politics in his comedy, but still thanked those who invited him to the ceremony, including ousted Kennedy Center leaders David Rubenstein and Deborah Rutter. The Mark Twain Prize presentation will stream on Netflix on May 4.
