A remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is set to release next month, according to reports. Despite never being officially announced by Bethesda, the game’s development has been confirmed through leaks and statements from industry insiders. The Unreal Engine 5 remake will be developed by Virtuous, a studio that previously worked on games such as Dark Souls and Metal Gear Delta.
The project is said to include significant reworks to combat mechanics, stamina, sneaking, blocking, archery, hit reactions, and the user interface (HUD). This news comes at a time when a full fan remake of Oblivion, known as Skyblivion, is still in development for a 2025 release date.
It’s worth noting that Bethesda has been in dialogue with the modding community behind Skyblivion, suggesting that there may not be significant tension between the two projects. However, some fans are concerned that an official remake may overshadow Skyblivion’s development and potential sales.
