Ohio Reports First Measles Case of 2025 This Year

Ohio’s health director has announced the state’s first measles case of 2025, involving an unvaccinated adult from Ashtabula County. The infected individual recently came into contact with someone who traveled internationally.

According to Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, being fully vaccinated is crucial in preventing this disease. Measles symptoms include a rash, high fever, runny nose, cough, and red eyes, which can lead to complications such as diarrhea and ear infections.

Ohio has experienced several measles cases in recent years, with a peak of 90 cases in 2022 following an outbreak in Central Ohio. The director emphasizes the importance of vaccination in preventing the spread of this disease.
