OnePlus 13 to Miss Out on Qi2 Charging, MagSafe Accessories Available

OnePlus has confirmed that its upcoming OnePlus 13 device will not support the latest Qi2 charging standard, but this doesn’t mean users won’t be able to use MagSafe accessories. The phone’s global variant has been listed as using the Qi 1.3.3 spec instead of Qi2.

The absence of built-in magnets for charging alignment means that third-party cases with magnetic rings can be used for compatibility with other MagSafe-enabled devices, including iPhones. Oppo is also offering “Mag” accessories that will work with both OnePlus and MagSafe-compatible smartphones.

Despite not supporting Qi2, the OnePlus 13’s global launch in January 2025 promises to bring a revamped design, the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and new colors. The phone itself won’t have built-in magnets for charging alignment but third-party cases will enable MagSafe functionality.
