OnePlus has made significant strides with its foldable smartphone debut, the OnePlus Open. Launched in 2023, it garnered a loyal following and left fans eager for its successor. Now, based on late-stage prototype renders, we have an exclusive first look at the upcoming OnePlus Open 2.
Design-wise, the Open 2 appears to be a design refresh, with the device becoming larger yet thinner than its predecessor. The bold circular camera module remains, housing a triple-lens system proudly bearing the Hasselblad branding. When folded, the phone measures just under 10mm thin, making it one of the slimmest foldable phones available.
Specifications-wise, the OnePlus Open 2 is rumored to feature an 8-inch, 120Hz, 2K LTPO main display complemented by a 6.4-inch AMOLED cover screen. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC will power the device, coupled with up to 16GB of RAM and a generous 1TB of storage. The camera system is expected to include a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
Battery capacity is poised to increase to 5,900mAh, a notable jump from the 4,800mAh battery in the OnePlus Open. Wired charging speeds will reportedly reach 80W, while wireless charging is expected to see a boost to 50W. The phone will ship with Android 15 and OxygenOS 15 out of the box.
The OnePlus Open 2 is projected to launch in China early next year, followed by a global release in late Q1 2025. It’s worth noting that the device might be a rebranded version of the OPPO Find N5, with both smartphones slated for a global launch around the same time.
