OnePlus Watch 3: A New Era for Wear OS?

The highly anticipated OnePlus Watch 3 is expected to arrive next month, alongside the OnePlus 13 and 13R smartphones. As a critical analysis of the company’s previous watch model, the OnePlus Watch 2, is in order, here are our top wishes for the upcoming OnePlus Watch 3.

Firstly, we hope that the new watch comes with a smaller option, likely a 43mm case with a 1.25- or 1.3-inch display. This would address concerns over size and weight, making it more comfortable to wear on the wrist.

Another major issue is the lack of seamless integration between the watch and smartphone. We expect to see features like Pixel call screening and Ultra Wideband phone unlock, which are exclusive to Samsung Galaxy Watches for their owners.

In terms of health and fitness monitoring, we believe that OnePlus needs to step up its game. This includes offering a range of core features like ECG detection, passive tracking of irregular heart rhythms, skin temperature readings, and menstrual cycle tracking. The OHealth app also requires an overhaul, providing more comprehensive data analysis and export options.

Furthermore, we’re expecting the watch to boast improved performance, with a processor such as the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1. This would bring it in line with other top Android watches, offering better efficiency and power consumption.

As the wearable market continues to evolve, OnePlus must prioritize these key areas if it wishes to compete with established brands like Apple, Samsung, and Google. With the right features and a solid execution plan, the OnePlus Watch 3 has the potential to become a leading smartwatch in its own right.
