OpenAI employees are selling approximately $6 billion worth of shares to an investor group consisting of SoftBank Group Corp, Thrive Capital, and Dragoneer Investment Group. The deal values the ChatGPT maker at $500 billion, significantly higher than a previous valuation of $300 billion. This investment comes on top of SoftBank’s existing $40 billion funding round, which is ongoing alongside a recent $8.3 billion influx from a syndicate of investors.
