OpenAI is reportedly working on a TikTok-like app that recommends endless streams of AI-generated short-form videos. The app will feature a personalized video feed, exclusive to AI content, and users can only use their likeness as inspiration for AI videos.
According to sources, the app received overwhelmingly positive feedback during internal testing, but managers were concerned it might become too distracting. OpenAI’s first text-to-video model, Sora, was released in December 2024, integrating it into ChatGPT. Google has also released Veo 3, a powerful new model that can create photorealistic video clips.
Other companies, including Meta and TikTok itself, have already launched similar apps, but OpenAI’s approach remains unclear. The company must address issues like disinformation, copyright violations, and user safety to avoid repeating mistakes made by competitors.
