OpenAI has filed a counter-suit against Elon Musk, alleging his bid to buy the AI company was intended to scare off honest investors. The AI firm claims Musk and other backers fabricated the $97.375 billion offer and didn’t provide sufficient financing for the deal.
According to OpenAI, Musk’s true intention behind the bid was not to acquire its assets but to “get behind the wall” of OpenAI’s technology and gain access to sensitive information. This could have poisoned potential deals and damaged revenue.
OpenAI also raised concerns that Musk’s involvement in AI development could pose a threat to the industry’s mission, citing a study that labels XAI as a “worst offender” when it comes to safety measures. The company’s chatbot, Grok, has been criticized for spreading misinformation and inflammatory rhetoric.
Musk had previously attempted to buy OpenAI but was rejected. Now, OpenAI claims Musk is trying to take over the company and disrupt its operations.
