OpenAI is kicking off a 12-day “shipmas” period of new features, products, and demos starting on December 5th. The announcements will include the long-awaited text-to-video AI tool Sora and a new reasoning model.
CEO Sam Altman confirmed the event at The New York Times’ DealBook conference, but didn’t reveal details about the upcoming releases. However, employees have been teasing the launches on social media, including some hinting that an updated ChatGPT voice could be part of the announcement.
The imminent launch of Sora comes weeks after artists protested being used for “unpaid R&D and PR.” Hundreds have tested the model in a private preview. Meanwhile, Google has also debuted its generative AI video model Veo, now available for businesses to incorporate into their pipelines.
