OPM Memo Response Not Mandatory, Says Agency

A recent email chain has spread uncertainty among government employees regarding the Saturday memo from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). In an effort to clear up any misconceptions, OPM has assured that responding to the memo is “voluntary” and does not pose a risk of termination.

Despite this clarification, many employees have expressed concerns about the situation. To alleviate these worries, OPM has explicitly stated that no one will face disciplinary action for not responding to the memo. Employees are free to choose whether or not to participate in the response process.
