OPPO has officially launched the world’s thinnest foldable phone, the Find N5. Weighing in at just 8.93mm, this book-style foldable is thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 but boasts impressive hardware features, including two high-resolution cameras, a fast Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and a massive 5,600mAh battery.
However, what’s surprising is that the Find N5 comes with a higher price tag compared to its competitors. In Singapore, it starts at SGD $2,499 (approximately $1,871 USD), making it more expensive than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Even the 512GB variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in the USA is cheaper.
This shift in pricing dynamics suggests that Chinese brands are losing their competitive edge when launching flagship phones outside of China. Samsung’s foldable phones appear to be gaining traction, especially with attractive trade-in deals, discounts, and a wider after-sales network.
The Find N5 will be available in some Asian and European countries but not in the USA or Canada. Key features include an 8.12-inch OLED foldable screen, a stylus, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and IP69 water resistance. It runs Android 15 out of the box, with options for 12GB/16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage.
In terms of camera capabilities, the Find N5 features two high-resolution cameras, including an 8MP selfie camera, a 50MP primary rear camera, and a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The phone supports 4K video recording at 60fps using its rear cameras and 30fps using selfie cameras.
With its premium pricing, the OPPO Find N5 is sure to attract attention from those willing to invest in the latest foldable technology. However, for many consumers, Samsung’s options may still be more appealing due to their competitive pricing and wider after-sales support.
