Oprah Praises Tina Knowles’ Emotional Memoir ‘Matriarch’

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey has selected “Matriarch,” a personal memoir by music industry icon and mother of Beyoncé and Solange, Tina Knowles, as her latest book club pick. The memoir chronicles Knowles’ life journey from growing up in segregated Texas to raising two successful daughters.

In an interview on CBS Mornings, Winfrey praised the memoir for its intimate yet universal appeal, saying it would resonate with everyone who has a mother or is a mother. Knowles shares stories about overcoming cancer and racism, as well as her experiences with motherhood and marriage.

Knowles revealed that she initially wrote a 1,000-page manuscript but was forced to cut it down due to publisher pressure. The book also explores her decades-long marriage to Mathew Knowles and how they balanced co-parenting their daughters.

Throughout the memoir, Knowles emphasizes the importance of family and legacy, stating that motherhood is “the best, important job” of one’s life. With the book now available, Knowles will embark on a tour to promote it, sharing her story with fans through The Oprah Podcast.
