Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has reiterated his stance that Ukraine should not be a NATO member. At the recent NATO summit in The Hague, Orbán stated that NATO has no business being in Ukraine and will prioritize keeping it out of the Alliance.
Orbán also dismissed concerns about Russia posing a threat to NATO, claiming that the alliance is stronger than any potential adversary. He argued that the loss of economic competition is a greater threat to European stability than security threats.
The Hungarian leader also praised US President Donald Trump’s efforts, saying his “common sense” has led to shorter wars and lessened momentum for old conflicts. Orbán’s stance on Ukraine comes as Hungary has been launching a propaganda campaign among its citizens calling for opposition to Ukraine’s EU membership.
