A federal judge in Oregon has temporarily blocked the deployment of any National Guard troops under the Trump administration’s control. The decision comes after the administration sent 200 California National Guard troops to the state and planned to deploy up to 400 Texas National Guardsmen for federal protection missions in cities including Portland and Chicago. The judge ruled that the administration had overstepped its authority and couldn’t deploy Oregon’s National Guard without proper consent from the governor.
