Oregon Officials Condemn Racist Letter Campaign

A racist letter sent to county officials in Coos and Lincoln counties has sparked condemnation from local leaders, including the sheriff and commissioners. Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum said the state stands united against such intimidation tactics.

Racial profiling, harassment, and intolerance have no place in Oregon, according to State Representative David Gomberg’s statement. The FBI is investigating the incident and urges community members who feel physically threatened to report their concerns to law enforcement.

The letter, which was mailed to officials throughout Oregon’s coastal communities, contains despicable language that is out of line with the state’s values of inclusivity and compassion.
