Netflix’s Tudum event brought together Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth to introduce a teaser for their upcoming film adaptation of Frankenstein. The movie stars Isaac as scientist Victor Frankenstein, with Jacob Elordi playing the monster he creates, and Goth as his fiancée Elizabeth Lavenza.
Guillermo del Toro, the director of the film, has expressed his passion for Mary Shelley’s novel for years. He initially approached Oscar Isaac to play the lead role, stating that Isaac was “the perfect” Victor Frankenstein. Isaac shared his experience on set with del Toro, describing him as a supportive and collaborative partner.
Isaac also discussed the project’s tone, calling it a “big, Mexican, dark, sumptuous, dramatic character piece.” Goth added that the film is an epic story with a strong emotional core, one that del Toro has been passionate about for decades. A glimpse of Elordi as the monster was seen in the new footage, with Isaac describing his performance as “heartbreaking.”
The Frankenstein adaptation is set to arrive on Netflix in November.
