Overwatch Meets Gundam Wing in Epic Crossover

Blizzard has partnered with Gunpla to create a series of skins for Overwatch heroes, transforming them into mechs from the popular ’90s anime Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. The collaboration will launch on April 29 and features Mercy as Wing Zero, Reaper as Deathscythe, Soldier: 76 as Tailgeese, and Ramattra as Epyon.

The development process involved a massive roster of 43 Overwatch heroes, with some ultimately being left out due to design inconsistencies. Art director Dion Rogers revealed that the team built Gunpla kits to compare their in-game models to the actual mechs, allowing them to refine the designs before launch.

Notably, crossover skins do not allow players to play as characters from other media but rather feature Overwatch heroes cosplaying as Mobile Suit Gundam Wing mobile suits. The collaboration marks a passion project for Blizzard and acknowledges the significant influence of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing on popular culture and the gaming industry.

The upcoming collaboration promises to delight fans of both franchises, offering a unique blend of anime-inspired designs and iconic Overwatch characters. With its launch set for April 29, the Overwatch Mobile Suit Gundam Wing crossover is an event not to be missed.
