Heavy metal pioneer and reality TV star Ozzy Osbourne has died at 76. The “Prince of Darkness” helped invent the heavy metal genre as lead singer of Black Sabbath, selling over 75 million albums worldwide. He also gained fame through his MTV reality show “The Osbournes,” showcasing his comedic side.
Osbourne announced his retirement multiple times but gave his final concert earlier this month in Birmingham, England, reuniting with his original band. Parkinson’s disease and chronic drug abuse had taken a toll on him. Despite his struggles, he maintained an enduring career, earning 13 platinum albums and becoming one of the most iconic rock stars of all time.
The legendary musician will be remembered for his bold stage antics, including biting the head off a bat during a concert.
