Heavy Metal Legend Ozzy Osbourne Reunites with Black Sabbath for Final Performance Before Passing Away
Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness, reunited with his longtime friend and bassist Terence “Geezer” Butler weeks before his death. The final performance marked a poignant moment in their nearly six-decade-long friendship.
In an essay published in The Sunday Times, Geezer Butler reminisced about Ozzy’s health struggles and their last show together. He recalled how frail Ozzy had become during the lead-up to the July 5 concert and how the star-studded lineup helped ease his friend’s exhaustion.
The 10-hour show was a celebration of Ozzy’s life and career, featuring performances from Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Jack Black, Steven Tyler, and more. Despite feeling unwell, Ozzy delivered an unforgettable performance, singing hits like “Crazy Train” and “Mama I’m Coming Home” while seated on a throne.
Geezer Butler described the moment as “strangely beautiful,” despite knowing it would be their last time together. He expressed gratitude for the love from fans and fellow musicians who paid tribute to Ozzy’s legacy.
Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22, leaving behind his wife Sharon, daughters Kelly and Aimee, son Jack, daughter Jessica, sons Elliot and Louis from his first marriage to Thelma Riley. His legacy as a born entertainer will live on through his music and the countless fans who loved him.
Born in Aston, West Midlands, Ozzy began drawing to theater but eventually turned to music after hearing The Beatles’ “She Loves You.” He was recruited by Geezer Butler to join Black Sabbath in 1967.
