The Indiana Pacers are one step closer to advancing to the NBA Finals after defeating the New York Knicks 130-121 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals. Tyrese Haliburton recorded a historic triple-double, becoming the first player in NBA history to achieve this feat without committing a single turnover. His 32 points, 15 assists, and 12 rebounds led the Pacers to a commanding 3-1 series lead.
The Knicks, meanwhile, are facing even longer odds after being outscored by the Pacers’ pace. The Pacers’ speed and agility proved too much for New York’s defense, as they sprinted past them with a 22-9 advantage in fastbreak points. Despite Jalen Brunson’s 31 points, he was unable to overcome Haliburton’s dominant performance.
The Pacers’ victory was fueled by Tyrese Haliburton’s aggressive play and Benedict Mathurin’s sudden surge in the second half. The electric guard scored 20 points on 5-of-8 shooting and earned 11 free throw attempts. For the Knicks, however, it was a series of mistakes that cost them the game. They committed 17 turnovers, compared to just 11 from the Pacers.
The Knicks also suffered another injury blow, as center Karl-Anthony Towns left the game with a left knee injury. Tom Thibodeau expressed concern about Towns’ status for Game 5, which will be played on Thursday.
