Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton Suffers Season-Ending Achilles Injury in Game 7

Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton suffered a torn right Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, the team confirmed on Monday. The injury will likely keep him out for the entire 2025-26 season. An MRI confirmed the severity of the damage.

Haliburton played through a calf strain during the NBA Finals to give his team a chance at winning a championship. However, the strain ultimately led to his devastating injury in Game 7.

Coach Rick Carlisle described Haliburton’s absence as a crushing blow, saying, “All of our hearts dropped.” The Pacers’ star guard had been on an incredible individual playoff run, hitting tying or winning shots in the final seconds of every game in all four rounds. He was averaging 17.7 points and 9.0 assists per game before his injury.

Haliburton’s surgery is scheduled for later Monday in New York. The Pacers will miss their leader for the upcoming season, but Carlisle praised Haliburton’s dedication to his team, saying, “It’s always a team thing” with this talented player.
