Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love will miss at least one week of action due to a procedure on his injured left thumb. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced Tuesday morning that Love is undergoing a ligament injury repair, which he believes will allow him to return to practice by next week. Head Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed the news and stated that Love’s recovery is expected to be relatively quick.
Love suffered the injury during Saturday’s preseason game against the Jets when he was sacked on his final snap. The Packers’ medical staff determined that a procedure would be the best course of action, allowing him to return to playing shape quickly. Gutekunst reassures that Love’s long-term health is not at risk.
As a result, Love will miss Tuesday’s practice, Thursday’s joint practice in Indianapolis, and Saturday’s preseason game against the Colts. However, LaFleur believes Love will be ready for Week 1 of the regular season. The Packers’ coaching staff will reassess Love’s status on a day-to-day basis as he returns to practice next week.
