Paige Bueckers Leads UConn to Rout Over Oklahoma, Advances to Elite Eight

UConn women’s basketball star Paige Bueckers scored a career-high 40 points to lead her team to an 82-59 rout over Oklahoma in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday. The win sends the Huskies to the Elite Eight.

Bueckers’ performance was impressive, with six 3-pointers and a personal 10-0 run in the fourth quarter that sealed the game for UConn. She eclipsed her previous career best of 34 points set earlier this week.

UConn coach Geno Auriemma praised Bueckers’ effort, saying it was one of his best games ever played by a player on his team. The senior guard matched her career high with six 3-pointers and scored eight points early in the third quarter to put UConn ahead.

The win extends UConn’s winning streak to 13 straight, and they will face the winner of Monday’s game between Southern California and Kansas State in a regional final. Bueckers’ impressive performance has moved her up to fourth place on UConn’s all-time scoring list.

Bueckers’ team is seeking its 12th national title, but Auriemma’s team hasn’t won it all since 2016. The Huskies reached their 18th Elite Eight in the past 19 seasons.
