Pakistan Airstrikes Kill 46 Afghans Mostly Women Children

A Pakistani airstrike on eastern Afghanistan has killed at least 46 people, mostly women and children, according to a Taliban government official. The airstrikes were carried out in the Paktika province bordering Pakistan. Six people were also wounded in the strikes.

The attack was reportedly aimed at dismantling a training facility for insurgents in the area. However, the Pakistani Taliban claims that more than 50 people died in the strikes, including 27 women and children.

Residents of the area report that at least 13 people were killed, with the death toll potentially higher. The wounded were taken to a local hospital.

Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have increased following the attack, with Afghanistan’s ruling Taliban government denouncing it as an act of aggression. Pakistan has not commented on the strikes.

The latest airstrike is part of an uptick in militant attacks across the region in recent months. This includes a deadly attack on Pakistani soldiers over the weekend that killed at least 16 soldiers.
