Pakistan Blames India for Train Hijacking Plot Linked to Afghan Handlers

Pakistan on Friday claimed that its train hijacking was linked to handlers in Afghanistan and an Indian mastermind, amid tensions between the three countries. The country’s military said it had foiled a plot by Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) militants who hijacked a train carrying hundreds of passengers.

According to Pakistani officials, intelligence monitoring revealed that BLA fighters were using walkie-talkies to communicate with their “handlers in Afghanistan” and that India was the mastermind behind the attack. However, both India and Afghanistan denied any involvement in the plot.

Pakistan’s military operation, named Operation Green Bolan, culminated in the release of hundreds of passengers from the train after a 36-hour standoff. The operation was led by an elite unit of the Army’s Special Services Group (SSG), which specialises in operations against armed groups.

The Pakistani military said that four hours after the train departed, BLA attackers intercepted it using an improvised explosive device and took men outside as hostages while keeping women and children inside. Intelligence sources confirmed that drones were used to monitor the situation, and aerial units were deployed within an hour of the train being stopped.

India rejected Pakistan’s allegations, with its Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson saying that the country “rejects the baseless accusations made by Pakistan.” Afghanistan also denied any connection between the attackers and its territory.
