Palantir Technologies (PLTR) shares fell 4% on Monday, while MicroStrategy (MSTR) rose 4%, after the companies were added to the Nasdaq 100 index on December 23. Axon Enterprise (AXON) will also join the index.
The Nasdaq 100 is a list of the 100 largest non-financial sector companies in the Nasdaq Composite Index, which is reconstituted annually and rebalanced quarterly. The changes take place on December 23, replacing Super Micro Computer (SMCI), Moderna (MRNA), and Illumina (ILMN).
MicroStrategy’s rise may be attributed to its recent major Bitcoin buy. Meanwhile, Supermicro faces uncertainty as it has delayed filing its annual report, which could lead to delisting if not resolved by February.
