Pamela Anderson shines in ‘The Last Showgirl’ film debut

Former “Baywatch” star Pamela Anderson says she’s finally found her chance to showcase her acting talent with her lead role in Gia Coppola’s latest movie “The Last Showgirl”. The 57-year-old actress is garnering serious attention for her stunning performance as a working-class Las Vegas entertainer facing the abrupt closure of her long-running show.

Anderson has spent three decades in a protective emotional crouch, enduring years of jokes and humiliation. However, she’s moved on to reevaluate and work on herself. Her experience with the Hulu miniseries “Pam & Tommy” also made her question her Hollywood career.

“The Last Showgirl” is Anderson’s first serious acting role and has earned her a Golden Globe nomination for best actress. The film is a character study of one struggling dancer, set against the desert landscape of Las Vegas. Coppola says she fell in love with the script and saw Anderson as the perfect fit for the role.

Anderson remembers feeling an overwhelming connection to the character Shelly when she received the script. She also made a conscious decision to be makeup-free throughout filming and avoid vanity, allowing her to feel more authentic. The film is a nostalgic visual love letter to Las Vegas’ fading showgirl culture, with striking shots of its excesses.

“The Last Showgirl” marks a new chapter for Anderson, who has always been passionate about writing poetry and watching films. She says she’s never been one-dimensional and is grateful for the opportunity to showcase her talent.
