Panasonic has re-entered the point-and-shoot market, announcing the new ZS99 camera as a successor to the popular ZS80 and ZS80D. Despite some minor design changes, the ZS99 retains its predecessor’s solid image quality and impressive 25x zoom range.
Key features of the ZS99 include a 1,840K-dot rear display, image stabilization, and focus system. The camera also supports vertical video shooting, has a new “REC” red frame indicator for recording, and includes Bluetooth V5 connectivity with a USB-C port upgrade. However, the electronic viewfinder has been removed in favor of the rear LCD.
The ZS99 will be available in black or silver starting in mid-February 2025 for $499.99. Panasonic has also announced an upgraded G97 model, which features improved slow and quick motion capabilities, a higher-resolution rear display, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, and the same “Send Image” button as the ZS99.
In contrast to some of its competitors, the new Lumix G97 camera offers upgrades without compromises, making it an attractive option for those seeking an affordable interchangeable lens camera.
