Panthers Edge Oilers in Double Overtime Thriller

The Florida Panthers tied up their Stanley Cup final series against the Edmonton Oilers 2-2 with a thrilling 5-4 win in Game 2. Brad Marchand scored on a breakaway in double overtime to seal the victory for Florida. The game marked the sixth time this season that the first two games of a playoff series have gone to overtime, and just the sixth such occurrence in NHL history.

Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky made several crucial saves, including 42 of 46 shots faced, as his team secured home-ice advantage against the Oilers. Sam Bennett scored his postseason-leading 13th goal, while Seth Jones and Dmitry Kulikov also found the back of the net for Florida.

The Panthers controlled play in the second period, outshooting the Oilers 34-13, but Edmonton’s Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl still managed to find the net. McDavid assisted on Evan Bouchard’s goal, while Draisaitl scored on the power play after stickhandling past multiple defenders.

Game 3 is set for Monday night as the series continues with a shift in location from Sunrise to Edmonton.
