Panthers Re-sign Veteran QB Andy Dalton

The Carolina Panthers have re-signed veteran quarterback Andy Dalton to a two-year contract worth $8 million, including $6 million guaranteed. The move ensures the continuity of Dalton’s relationship with top pick Bryce Young, who has expressed his desire for Dalton to return.

Dalton, 37, was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next month but had stated his preference to remain with the Panthers. Young also made it clear that he wanted Dalton back, citing their close relationship and the veteran quarterback’s ability to provide guidance and support.

Dalton signed a similar deal with the Panthers in 2023 to help develop Young during his rookie season. The plan worked, as Young showed steady improvement in the latter part of the year. Despite Dalton becoming the starter after a brief benching due to poor numbers, he remained in the role until suffering an injury that led to Young taking over.

Dalton, a veteran with 14 seasons under his belt, has established himself as a reliable quarterback. With 39,500 yards passing and 253 touchdowns, he has been selected to three Pro Bowls. The re-signing of Dalton ensures stability for the Panthers and maintains the connection between Dalton and Young, who have developed a strong partnership during their time together.
