Panthers Sign QB Andy Dalton to Two-Year Deal

The Carolina Panthers have re-signed backup quarterback Andy Dalton to a two-year contract, the team announced Tuesday. Dalton’s deal comes as he was set to become an unrestricted free agent in March.

Dalton, 37, has played nine games over the past two seasons, throwing nine touchdowns and six interceptions while providing guidance to young teammate Bryce Young. Young praises Dalton for his mentorship, saying their close relationship allows them to discuss both football and personal matters.

The veteran quarterback boasts a long track record of success, having thrown for 39,500 yards in 14 seasons with several teams. He ranks 26th on the all-time passing yards list, behind Hall of Famers like Jim Kelly and Steve Young. Dalton’s performance, including a notable win against the Raiders, has shown he still has value as a player.
