South Carolina coach Dawn Staley praised star guard Te-Hina Paopao for her outstanding performance in the Gamecocks’ 101-63 win over Florida. Paopao, a fifth-year senior, led the team with 14 points, seven assists, and seven rebounds.
Staley compared Paopao to an “elevator,” saying she elevates the entire team when she hits a three-pointer. The coach highlighted Paopao’s ability to score from inside and outside, as well as her playmaking skills, which allowed South Carolina to dominate Florida in the game.
Paopao was instrumental in setting the tone for the game, scoring quickly and then assisting on 15 of the next 17 points. Her passing and facilitating abilities were on full display, with coach Staley saying they are crucial to the team’s success.
With Paopao leading the way, South Carolina improved to 23-2 overall and 11-1 in the SEC. The win marked Paopao’s second victory in her last game before graduation, and Staley is proud of her senior’s performance.
