Paramount-Skydance Merger Completes $8 Billion Deal Amid FCC Probe

Paramount Global and Skydance Media have completed their $8 billion merger, creating a new parent company called “Paramount, a Skydance Corporation.” The deal puts CEO David Ellison in charge of the combined media and entertainment assets, including CBS News, Comedy Central, MTV, Paramount Plus, and an iconic movie studio.

The FCC continues to investigate CBS News over its handling of a 2020 interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris. However, the probe now falls under Ellison’s purview. Ellison has not commented on the issue, but the company has committed to installing an ombudsman at CBS News and eliminating diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

The merger allows Paramount to combine its extensive creative library with Skydance’s production expertise and technological capabilities. The new leadership aims to honor exceptional storytelling while modernizing content delivery and creating sustainable value for shareholders.
