Park City Ski Patrol Union Pushes for Resolution in Labor Dispute

A labor dispute between the Park City Professional Ski Patrol Association (PCPSPA) and Vail Resorts continues, with unionized ski patrollers walking out of their positions on Friday. The PCPSPA has been negotiating with the company for over nine months but claims to be far from an agreement.

The union is seeking a fair contract that values its members’ experience, includes seasonal benefits, and addresses the high cost of living in Park City. Leaders say they will meet again with Vail Resorts on Thursday.

PCPSPA VP Nik Smith stated, “Given the major impacts our work stoppage has had on resort operations, we are surprised the company’s counter proposal is still far from what we feel is acceptable.” The union has called for clear and respectful communication with workers and an end to the alleged pressuring of employees to cross the picket line.

The dispute has resulted in significant impact on the resort, but no further information is currently available.
