Path of Exile 2 Faces Log-in Queues Due to High Demand

Grinding Gear Games, developer of Path of Exile 2, has warned that players may experience log-in queues when the free-to-play game enters early access this weekend. The studio has seen an overwhelming number of pre-orders, with over 1 million redemptions for keys and sales continuing to rise. Director Jonathan Rogers expressed concerns about the game’s ability to handle the large influx of users, citing limitations on their backend services.

Rogers stated that while more cloud capacity is being added, there are still concerns about what the limits might be. Path of Exile 2 is the long-awaited sequel to a 2013 hack-and-slash action role-playing game and rewards precision and expertise with new mechanics such as dodge rolls. The game’s use of WASD-style movement has been praised by critics.

Despite the challenges, Rogers thanked players for believing in the project, assuring them that the development team will work hard to resolve any server issues. Following the game’s launch on Friday, players reported significant wait times and crashes on social media, with the development team actively working to troubleshoot and restart the realm multiple times.
