The New England Patriots have begun releasing players ahead of the NFL’s roster deadline, trimming their roster by 14 players. The team announced that they have cut ties with several players across various positions.
Among those released are tight ends Jaheim Bell and Cole Fotheringham, defensive tackles Philip Blidi and Kyle Peko, wide receiver Phil Lutz, linebackers R.J. Moten and Monty Rice, guards Tyrese Robinson and Sidy Sow, cornerbacks Isaiah Bolden and Jordan Polk, running backs Micah Bernard and Shane Watts, and quarterback Ben Wooldridge.
Coach Mike Vrabel acknowledged the tough decision, stating that it’s part of the team’s responsibility to make cuts to stay competitive. With 31 other teams also set to release players before the deadline, the Patriots are among several franchises looking to shape their rosters for the upcoming season.
