Patriots Release 14 Players Ahead of Season Opener

The New England Patriots made significant roster moves on Tuesday by releasing 14 players ahead of their upcoming season opener. Among those released are tight ends Jaheim Bell and Cole Fotheringham, defensive tackle Philip Blidi, linebackers R.J. Moten and Monty Rice, and several other contributors.

Bell, a seventh-round draft pick from Florida State in 2024, played primarily as a reserve tight end for the Patriots last season. Bernard, who was signed by New England on August 19, 2025, had a productive college career with Tennessee, rushing for over 2,300 yards and catching 99 receptions.

Other notable players released include Blidi, Bolden, Polk, Rice, Robinson, Sow, and Watts. Peko will have spent time in three different stints throughout the Patriots’ history before being released. The team also let go of several practice squad players to finalize their roster ahead of the season.
