The search for the next defensive coordinator of the New England Patriots continues. Former Cincinnati Bengals coach Lou Anarumo has agreed to join the Indianapolis Colts, according to ESPN. Anarumo left Cincinnati after six seasons and was known for building a strong defense that led to a Super Bowl LVI appearance.
Despite this success, the Bengals’ defense struggled last season, ranking 25th in yards allowed and 23rd in total points allowed. The Patriots, who are seeking a new defensive coordinator, will need to find someone who can improve their struggling defense. After finishing with a 4-13 record and missing the playoffs for the third consecutive year, the team’s front office, led by head coach Mike Vrabel and executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf, must pivot.
The Patriots’ latest move is parting ways with offensive line coach Scott Peters, who joined the Bengals earlier this week. With a new season approaching, the Patriots aim to keep their recent struggles in the past and find success behind the podium.
